Hamilton Bucksaw is constructed with all hardwoods of various species and, we use as much lumber locally sourced as possible. The Handles are hardwood with, one (right) handle is ergonomically shaped to better fit the hand. The handles have a saw kerf to accommodate encapsulating the blade in the handle when folded.

Handles are fitted with stainless steel threaded insert and 8/32 stainless steel round head square drive machine bolts. The windlass is constructed of 3 ply hardwood with the ‘outsides’ being of one specie and the center (dado) of a different species. The laminates are joined using exterior rated glue and further, mechanically fastened with four ½” hardwood Dowels saw kerf on both ends to accommodate hardwood shims.

Tensioning is achieved through the use of #550, 7 strand Para Cord which uses a double fisherman’s strangle knot. The tensioning Key is constructed of hardwood. The design, which utilizes a rotating joint (knuckle Mortise & Tenon), is unique in that it more efficiently transfers the tension from the Para Cord to the blade. This construction technique is what allows the Bucksaw to be smaller in structure and lighter in weight, which makes the Hamilton Bucksaw easier to use, carry, backpack, and store in your auto or boat.

The Hamilton Bucksaw fits 3 blades types depending on your needs. We use all high carbon blades and offer, Bahco 21” 51-21 blade for dry wood, Bahco 21” 23-21 blade for green wood and a custom made 21” 10 tooth per inch meat/bone blade for processing game.

We utilize at least 10 different wood species and fulfill orders based on component ‘colors’ available in our inventory (exact wood species cannot be ordered). The Hamilton Bucksaw is available in 2 finishes, the default finish is a food grade Tung Oil and an optional finish of Beeswax and Linseed Oil. Both finishes are hand applied and the optional Beeswax/Linseed Oil is heat applied to ‘drive’ the finish into the wood, the Tung Oil finish is naturally driven into the grain.

Both finishes are driven into the wood and are not a surface only finish (like a Polyurethane finish) they both require at least 2 weeks of cure time and the Beeswax/Linseed Oil is more of a subtle softer finish.

The Pack is 1000 Denier Cordura  Nylon Fabric, Mil-Spec MIL-DTL-32439 Type 1 with factory applied waterproofing in Ranger Green. The pack has 5/8” Polypropylene Webbing, a 5/8” side release buckle in Black Plastic and 2 Steel Black MIL-R-3390 spec D-Rings on the back. The pack comes with a small tool bag with a #2 square drive finger tool and enough room to store your Tension Key and Para Cord.

Replacement components are available for purchase. Please retain the species label which will come stored in the small tool bag.

We hand fit all components BEFORE shipping our saws and will require several days lead time so we can ensure a proper fit.
